The fabric says it all...
Scarves are made from a variety of fabrics ranging from cotton to
wool to silk to polyester to rayon to even certain polyblends.
Cotton
scarves
are relatively cheaper and are easy to clean and maintain.
Additionally, cotton is a fabric that can be used right through the
year in all climates. Woolen scarves are soft on the skin and are
ideal for use in cold seasons. These scarves are created either with
natural or artificial wool. Polyester scarves are resistant to
creases and are made from durable and light resins. Polyester is
also quick drying. Rayon is a synthetic fiber that is very similar
in texture to silk and being light in weight can be used just about
anywhere.
By
far, down the years as compared to the other fabrics, silk has
always been a favorite with scarf manufacturers across the world,
one of them being
Belisi Fashions.
A reason for this is that silk has a characteristic sheen, due to a
high light reflective ability, that is retained for years.
Additionally, silk does not require excessive maintenance and can be
easily cleaned and ironed. Silk is also reputed to be one of the
most resilient natural fibers, stronger even than a thread made of
steel and also resistant to mold growth. Being a very porous fabric,
silk can absorb moisture; this capability makes it suitable for
wearing in all seasons. Silk takes on any dyes, a unique feature of
the material being that the design rendered to the silk scarf has
equal visibility on both sides of the cloth. Belisi silk scarves
sport just about any design, ranging from paisley to floral prints
to geometric shapes to even abstract art. Designer silk scarves and
silk head scarves are much in demand by discerning clientele.
As
far as bandanas are concerned, since these scarves are required to
double up as handkerchiefs, these clothing accessories are usually
made of cotton. Cotton materials are also soft on the skin and
easily washable. Some bandanas are made of microfiber mesh. Bandanas
may be embellished with ‘PowderDry’ fabrics that help in dissipation
of the moisture. In cold countries, ‘Babushkah’ bandanas are popular
that are made of high density polar fleece. Sometimes, these
scarves have polar fleece on one side and some other lighter fabric
on the other side. Flannel bandanas are equally popular.
Higher-end
scarves
are made from superior but comfy materials such as pashmina,
cashmere, chenille, velvet, georgette, or angora. Pashmina is
usually made from the fur on the undercoat of a certain breed of
goat mostly found in the Himalayas. Sometimes pashmina is mixed with
silk, to overcome availability constraints, reduce cost, and also to
render the pashmina scarf or shawl with more strength. Generally,
cashmere refers to pure pashmina and is regarded as the ultimate in
luxurious scarves.
Belisi silk scarves are made with attention to quality and
durability, with normal small and medium sized silk scarves being
available alongside long silk scarves and hip scarves.
