The scarf – The clothing accessory with multiple faces...
A
scarf
is a multifarious style accessory. Scarves come in varies types,
differentiated by style, size, functionality, and the material used
in manufacture. This scarf is square, rectangular, or triangular in
shape. The Belisi silk scarf is the most versatile, serving both
style and function.
A
popular style is the head scarf. Almost any kind of scarf can be
used as a head scarf.
The head scarf is usually worn with the scarf folded diagonally in
half, and then draped over the head with the pointed ends being
brought under the chin and then loosely, but firmly, knotted. This
scarf has the ability to keep the hair in place during a ‘bad hair’
day. Additionally, in dusty places or when traveling, the head scarf
serves to shield the hair from dust, grime, and the damaging effects
of the sun. Lining the forehead, the cotton or silk head scarf can
prevent sweat from trickling down into the eyes. While for a causal
outing in the sun the head scarf could be made out of just about any
material, for formal occasions, it is preferable to use silk head
scarves. During frigid climatic conditions, a woolen or pashmina
head scarf would be ideal. This scarf would keep the wearer warm and
also protect the ears from biting cold winds.
Knitted scarves offer an interesting array to choose from. These
scarves, usually handmade, represent the painstaking efforts that go
into their creation. Knitted scarves are made by creating a meshwork
of the threads or yarn through a series of interconnected loops. The
knitted scarves have a wide array of patterns and can be fashioned
with either woolen, cotton, or even pashmina fabrics.
Sweater necklaces refer to slender
scarves
that are wrapped around the neck and generally seen in small-town
America. These scarves are often worn like mufflers. Besides being
worn for warmth, such scarves sometimes even have religious
connotations and in these cases are worn to cover the head as a mark
of respect.
The bandana is a type of scarf that brings to mind the American Wild
West. Seen most often adorning the necks of the cowboys on the
range, this neckerchief like square scarf was draped around the neck
with the broader part towards the rear and the narrow ends being
knotted in front. The bandana was a convenient accessory as it
allowed the user to just lift the cloth, wipe his face, and then let
the bandana drop back down over the chest where it could dry in the
wind.
The long silk scarf from
Belisi
was one of the most versatile of all scarves as it could be used as
a shawl or stole too. This Belisi Fashions scarf can be used by both
men and women. One popular way of wearing a long scarf among women
is to wrap it around the neck and tie the ends into a half butterfly
knot at the front like a bow. Hip scarves are large enough to be
wrapped around the waist.
